Child killed by the blast of a landmine whose source hasn’t yet been identified in E. Deir Ez-Zour on December 10

A 10-year-old child from Marat village in the east of Deir Ez-Zour governorate, named as Ahmad Muhammad al Malih al Hfouz, was killed on December 10, 2021, when a landmine whose source haven’t yet been identified exploded in the village which is controlled by Syrian regime forces. SNHR is still trying to contact witnesses to obtain more details of the incident.
SNHR calls on the governing forces in each area to bear responsibility for protecting civilians in the areas under their control, to reveal the sites of planted landmines and to remove them. We have documented hundreds of deaths and injuries resulting from landmine explosions, which will continue to constitute a real threat to people, particularly children, for several years to come.
