A boy, named as Hamad Ahmad al Za’lan, born in 2004, from al Keshkiya town which is administratively a part of al Sh’aitat area in the eastern suburbs of Deir Ez-Zour governorate, was arrested for conscription by Syrian Democratic Forces as he was passing through a checkpoint in Raqqa city on December 4, 2021, and taken to a military training camp.
SNHR notes that no member of the boy’s family was informed of his arrest and that he has been prevented from contacting his family, who are not allowed to visit him. SNHR fears that he will be forced to engage directly and indirectly in military operations, and confirms that around 136 children are still detained for forced conscription in the SDF’s camps.
