A man from Ebeen village in the western suburbs of Aleppo governorate, named as Ahmad Qrunful al Taher, was arrested on August 11, 2021, by Hay’at Tahrir al Sham’s personnel in the village over his criticism of the HTS’s ‘Salvation Government’ via his Facebook account and taken to an undisclosed location.
SNHR notes that none of the detainee’ family members were informed of his arrests, with his phone being confiscated, preventing him from contacting his families. SNHR fears that he will be subjected to torture and ultimately classified as forcibly ‘disappeared’ like approximately 85 percent of the individuals detained in Syria.
SNHR can confirm that at least 3,585 Syrian citizens are still detained or forcibly disappeared in HTS detention centers.
