A man, named as Samer al Hammadi, died on July 30, 2021, as a result of wounds sustained on July 29, 2021, when Syrian regime personnel opened fire at him while he was in his car in Tareeq al Sadd neighborhood of Daraa city.
SNHR notes that the Daraa al Balad area has been witnessing a military escalation by Syrian regime forces since July 27, 2021. As a result, a number of families have been displaced from the area, heading to safer districts in Daraa city for fear of regime bombardment and storming of the area.
SNHR notes that the Syrian regime forces have committed another violation of international humanitarian law through this indiscriminate killing, for which the perpetrator must be held accountable.


* According to information we received at the time, we published a news report stating that Samer al Hammadi was shot dead by Syrian regime forces in Daraa al Balad area in Daraa city on July 29. Following subsequent investigation, we have confirmed that the victim, Samer, actually died on July 30 due to wounds inflicted on July 29 by the forces in Tareeq al Sadd neighborhood.
