Civilians shot dead by unidentified gunmen in al Bseira city in Deir Ez-Zour suburbs on May 22.

Three civilians, named as Mahmoud Abboud al Jamil, Abdullah Jamal al Maizar and Ayman Amir al Eleiwi, who were working as security guards at al Bseira city’s market in the eastern suburbs of Deir Ez-Zour governorate, were shot dead there on May 22, 2021 by unidentified gunmen.

The city is controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces, with SNHR still trying to contact witnesses to obtain more details of the incident.

SNHR condemns all attacks of this nature which target and kill civilians and calls on the governing forces in each area to bear responsibility for protecting civilians in the areas under their control, and to conduct investigations into all such incidents and reveal their findings to the public. Stability will not be achieved in Syria without achieving a political transition towards democracy implemented according to a strict timetable.
