On March 24, 2021, IDP camps (specifically the Harbnoush, al Sheikh Bahr and Kafr Benni camps, and other camps in Jisr al Shoghour area) in the northern and western suburbs of Idlib governorate witnessed heavy rainfall and strong winds, resulting in dozens of tents collapsing or being blown away, and damaging much of the remaining property of the IDPs living in these camps. SNHR notes that severe weather conditions of this nature expose the IDPs to further suffering.
SNHR calls on international relief organizations to provide the camp’s residents with urgently needed essential provisions immediately, and to provide the administration of the camps with a number of tents for emergency cases.
On this occasion we emphasize our condemnation of Russia’s arbitrary use of its UN veto which bans the entry of cross-border aid using al Salama crossing at the Syrian- Turkish border, further contributing to obstructing the flow of humanitarian aid.
