Child killed by a blast of a landmine of unknown origin in Ayed Saghir village in Raqqa suburbs on February 11

A 16-year-old boy, named as Osamah Abdul Razzaq al Assaf, from Ayed Sagir village which is administratively a part of al Tabaqa city in the western suburbs of Raqqa governorate, was killed on February 11, 2021, when a landmine of unknown origin exploded in the village. SNHR is still trying to contact witnesses to obtain more details of the incident.
SNHR calls on the controlling forces in each area to bear responsibility for protecting civilians in the areas under their control, to reveal the sites of all landmines planted there and to remove them. We have documented hundreds of deaths and injuries resulting from landmine explosions, which will continue to constitute a real threat to people, particularly children, for several years to come.
