A 16-year-old boy from Ebleen village in the southern suburbs of Idlib governorate, named as Hussein Muhammad al Alloush, who was living in Sarmada city in the northern suburbs of the governorate, was arrested by Hay’at Tahrir al Sham on January 20, 2021 in Sarmada city, and taken to a detention center, where he was tortured to death. On February 3, 2021, his body was handed over to his family bearing signs of torture.

SNHR can confirm that at least 2,125 Syrian citizens are still detained or forcibly disappeared in the HTS’s detention centers, constituting a grave threat to the detainees’ wellbeing.

We note that about 26 Syrian citizens have died due to torture in HTS’s detention centers.
