Syrian National Army arrested civilians, including women in Hammam al Turkman village in Raqqa on January 7

Syrian National Army carried out raids on Hammam al Turkman village which is administratively a part of Tal Abyad area in the northern suburbs of Raqqa governorate on January 7, 2021. SNHR has documented that seven civilians, including three women, were arrested, and taken to an undisclosed location.
SNHR notes that no members of the detained civilians’ families were informed of their arrests or whereabouts, with the phones of the detainees being confiscated, preventing them from contacting their families. SNHR fears that they will be subjected to torture and ultimately classified as forcibly ‘disappeared’, like approximately 85 percent of all detained persons.
SNHR can confirm that at least 3,262 Syrian citizens are still detained or forcibly disappeared in the Armed Opposition’s detention centers, constituting a grave threat to the detainees’ wellbeing, given the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
