Judge died on October 19, due to wounds sustained in a blast of IED of unknown origin in Izaz city in Aleppo suburbs

A judge at a military court in Izaz city in the northern suburbs of Aleppo governorate, named as Melhem Melhem, died on October 19, 2020, due to wounds sustained on October 18, when an IED of unknown origin placed inside his car earlier exploded while he was driving in the area behind Children and Women’s hospital in the city. SNHR is still trying to contact witnesses to obtain more details of the incident.
SNHR condemns all attacks of this nature which target and kill civilians and calls on the governing forces in each area to bear responsibility for protecting civilians in the areas under their control, and to conduct investigations into all such incidents and reveal their findings to the public. Stability will not be achieved in Syria without achieving a political transition towards democracy implemented according to a strict timetable.
